Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Champ and I am a 6.5 year old neutered male Shih Tzu / Terrier mix who came to NBS Animal Rescue to find my fur-ever home. I was found alone wandering the city when a neighbor recognized me and contacted my family. Unfortunately they didn't want me anymore and the kind shelter workers contacted the good people at NBS Animal Rescue to help me find a fur-ever family who will love me for the rest of my life.

My foster mom and dad can't stop talking about how sweet I am. I get along well with my foster family's small dogs and kitty cat, and enjoy being held and gently pet by my foster family's teenaged children. I haven't been around small children so I'm not sure if their quick movements and loud noises will scare me, so my fur-ever family will need to go slow and let me acclimate to my new home environment. I walk nicely on a leash, I am an expert level snuggler on the couch and on your lap. When my foster family is at work/school I am a good boy and only chew on my toys. I need to go outside to do my business several time per day and would love a fenced yard to play with my forever family in. I'm still learning how to do my business outside so I will need a family who is patient, will help teach me how to do my business outside by rewarding me with gentle pets and treats, and never making me feel bad for having an accident or two.

My foster mom says I am the sweetest boy who deserves a loving family who will take care of me, make me feel loved and cared for, could that be with you?

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
-Children must be 10yrs or older
- 100% fenced in yard preferred.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
