Cedar is a super intelligent, active dude who loves to work with his human. He's very food and toy driven, which makes him fun to train! Speaking of training, Cedar is looking for an adopter with the experience to continue working with him and help him live his best life. Think you fit the bill? Read on!

Cedar will do best in a home with breed and training experience and no kids. He is uncomfortable with restraint and some handling, and will use his mouth to let you know when he's unhappy about something, so kids are not a good fit for him. He has become much more comfortable and tolerant in these areas with time and training in his foster home, but it is definitely something an adopter will need to continue working on.

A country boy at heart, Cedar is most at home in the woods. He finds the hustle and bustle of public areas, car traffic, etc to be frightening right now, and will need a patient owner willing to put in the work to build his confidence and show him the world isn't so scary. While he has made progress in his foster home, he will need a lot of continued work and training in this area. Cedar wants to be able to enjoy and experience the world, not live in fear of it!

Cedar has been diagnosed with mild unilateral hip dysplasia, which means that while he's still able to do things like hike and play his adopter should be mindful of not pushing him too hard. High impact activities are likely not a good option for him, but he could be a great candidate for lower impact sports such as rally, nosework, barn hunt, etc. Mental work is the key to tiring this dude out! Keeping him lean (his fattledog days are behind him), his leg muscles strong, and utilizing a joint supplement will all help him stay healthy and comfortable.

Put in the work and Cedar will reward you with his silly side. He loves flinging his toys around the house, and once he has your attention he'll deposit it politely on your knee and ask to play tug. He'll purposely roll a ball under a pet cot so he can smoosh himself under there to retrieve it, use the coffee table as a back scratcher, and endless other shenanigans. He's a fun, goofy dude; just a bit rough around the edges. He'll be an amazing dog for the right adopter who is willing and able to give him the training he needs!

Cedar is approximately 3 years old and 45lbs. He is house- and crate-trained, and is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations/preventatives. He is dog social but does need guidance at times in recognizing and responding to other dogs' signals as he can pester a bit. Cedar has a high prey drive and will try to herd - he has not been cat tested but would likely chase.

Cedar is being fostered in Marshfield, MA and needs to meet his potential family prior to adoption to ensure a great fit. Check out #CedarSeeks on Instagram and Facebook for more pictures, and view videos of him in action on his Instagram highlight reel here: bit.ly/CedarSeeks
