Meet Cashew

Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a virtual meet & greet with you & Cashew!

Cashew is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.

Meet Cashew!

Cashew is a 2 year old, male, lab / pittie mix who currently weighs 50 pounds. Cashew is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and ready to find a family to call his own!

Cashew's mom describes him as playful, kind, sweet, gentle, loving and obedient!

Cashew is dog friendly and currently lives with another dog in his foster home! His foster mom describes his energy level as moderate. He likes to run and play, but can also be a couch potato. He loves playing with other dogs, but also takes great cues from dogs if they are not interested in playing with him. He loves other dogs and gets excited when he sees them out on walks. Cashew currently attends doggie day care while his foster mom is away at work and he loves it there!

Cashew has not lived with cats, so we're not sure how he would react. He has met stray cats and seems curious. We can formally cat test him for any serious potential adopters.

Cashew is kid friendly, but we would suggest a home with older children who are respectful of dogs and their space. Cashew currently lives with a 7 year old who does not respect Cashew's personal space. He was messing with Cashew while Cashew was trying to sleep and Cashew nipped the child. This has caused his family to need to rehome him. We want to be clear that Cashew is a very sweet boy and his only incident was when he was provoked.

Cashew walks great on a leash! He will stay calmly by your side. He loves sniffing around and will make stops to smell the roses! And pee on them ;) He will pull a little when he gets excited, but it's minimal and he quickly settles back into a calm walking routine.

Cashew is fully potty trained and does not have accidents inside.

Cashew has exhibited some separation anxiety. His current foster mom works from home or takes him to doggie day care when she needs to go into the office. If he has to be left at home alone, she gives him trazadone and kennels him. Cashew would do best in a family who either works from home, can take him to work, or is able to put him in doggie day care while they're away from the home.

There are SO many positive things about Cashew! He is playful, sweet, loves pets, cuddles and fetch! He LOVES the water! Baths are never a problem for this guy! He is food motivated, a fast learner and eager to please his people! He is so gentle and obedient. He lets his foster mom pick him up and carry him lol. He loves playing with other dogs and has the sweetest puppy dog eyes. He is great in the car and loves going for car rides! He is so friendly towards everyone he meets and loves making new friends! He understands sit, down, stay, wait & drop it (he will instantly drop anything in his mouth). He loves attention and just wants to love his people in return! His foster mom says that his love language is through pets, belly rubs, cuddles, baby talk, running and playing! Cashew can't wait to find his next adventure buddy! Is that you?
