Meet Carlie

Introducing our new to rescue baby Carlie who after some much needed time and TLC in her foster home is now ready for adoption. This tiny girl was lucky to be found and saved from a dangerous situation by a very caring Good Samaritan. She was quickly whisked into rescue and placed in a wonderful loving foster home where she has begun to blossom much to our delight. Carlie is a very smart 8-9 week old Rottweiler / German Shepherd mix puppy who will likely end up being a med to large size dog given her breeds. Judging by her breed appearance we feel that it is possible that she could end up weighing between 60 and 80 lbs. Foster mum Lorie tells us that Carlie is a happy, delightful puppy who is highly food motivated, learns new things quickly and is eager and happy to learn. Her paperless house training is coming along very well, during the day she is able to hold herself up to 4 hours maximum and during the night she still needs to be taken outside, supervised and on a leash to do her potty 2-3 times. She is a very smart girl who will often go to the door and bark to be taken out. Carlie is still a very young puppy and will need someone that is home part of the day and at night who is fully committed to helping her continue with her house training until she masters it completely which could take another 3 or 4 months. She is crate trained and goes willingly into her crate. If foster mum goes out during the day Carlie is taken out for a pee then goes into her crate with her kong filled with kibble and chew toys to keep her occupied. At night she sleeps on her bed in her crate and must be covered with her blanket. Being a typical puppy she is indeed a chewer who loves her stuffies and appropriate chew toys or she tends to get into puppy mischief such as chewing on shoes or furniture legs. Carlie currently shares her foster home with a foster brother dog and a cat. She really loves to play with her foster brother Casey but can get a little pushy with the cat so she will need to be trained to be gentle if there is a cat in her future adoptive home. We will require a completely fenced in back yard for Carlie. Being a puppy she will need to be supervised when outside in the yard as she can run like the wind and does bolt quickly. Because she is at that very nippy puppy stage that can take months to outgrow we do ask that any children in the home be 8 years old and up who are well used to dogs. Adopting a puppy is indeed a lot of work and requires huge amounts of love, patience, time and a 150 % commitment that will ensure you will get back everything and more that you put into them. If you think you are the perfect forever family for our little girl we are waiting to hear from you.
