Oh so good looking! Meet Canto, trapped Christmas Eve in Encanto park. Canto had been running the streets for weeks, his story was well posted on the local Nextdoor App. He has been spotted crossing major streets, sleeping on front lawns, eating food left for him....but he was too afraid to be caught. On Christmas Eve a good Samaritan was walking her dogs when she noticed a pooch following her, always a good 25 yards back. He did not come close and was submissive to her one dog that darted his way. After failing to lure Canto with treats, a trap was set and within a few hours, Canto was safe. Fast forward to this day and Canto is a shell of the timid dog trapped that Christmas Eve. Canto is incredibly smart. He is also a bit of a complicated dog. Once he trusts you, he is the sweetest pooch on earth. He is the best cuddlier, placing that melon head on your lap. He is such a soulful, heartfelt companion. He loves to go for car rides, he is wonderful on a leash and he wants to learn. Canto is taking weekly classes to help him gain confidence and the trainer is also so impressed by how smart he is. He will thrive in a home that has a controlled environment, and not a whole lot of traffic. Canto has incredible eye contact and can come off as really intense, which it may be. However, once he knows he is safe and loved, he turns in to a gigantic mush. Canto is about on 1 & 1/2 years old, he had a rope with a lock clip tied around his neck at the time of his rescue. Canto weights about 60lbs, most of it from his big melon head.
