Canela’s story is a sad one. This gorgeous pittie girl was found abandoned at a new-home-build community in Houston, Texas. A Good Samaritan started feeding her to gain her trust, and couldn’t leave her behind. She brought Canela home and asked for help from a rescue to get her spayed and fully vetted for adoption.

Ever since bringing Canela home, this sweet, shy girl has grown in leaps and bound. Initially shy, has shown her foster mom nothing but love as she has grown accustomed to living in a re home! Canela is a medium energy girl with a very sweet and gentle temperament.

Canela loves to play with her foster cat sibling and senior dog siblings, too. She is also very respectful to their social cues when feeling lazy. She would love to find a forever home with another friendly, confident playmate that can meet her at her level of excitement followed by a good snuggle session.

This girl is an absolute snuggle bug. If you’re looking for a dog that loves short walks followed by Netflix marathons on the couch, Canela is your top pick. Canela is a homebody and loves to have her human’s attention. She would thrive as a WFH buddy and would delight in lazy days at home baking sourdough from scratch. She is as she’s quiet as a mouse and will find many ways to entertain herself while you’re working.

Canela is also kennel trained, potty trained and leash trained. While she would rather chill on the sofa, she will go into her kennel for treats and sleep most of the day during outings. She is also trained to sleep in her kennel, but would love to share your bed if allowed! Canela knows the command potty to outside and is wonderful with a regular, established schedule around potty breaks and walks, to help build up her confidence outside of the home where she can still be a bit shy. Canela had a rough life on the streets, and would greatly benefit from a home that can provide plenty of love, socialzation and positive reinforcement opportunities to help her build confidence in public.

Canela is spayed, fully vaccinated and heartworm negative. All this sweet girl needs is a second chance!
