Meet Cane

Cane, neutered male, 4 years old, Staffordshire mix, 50 lbs. He's in a foster home in Texas and can transport to an approved adopter.

Cane is an extremely cuddly boy. He loooves being pet, especially when you lay down and cuddle with him. He has the sweetest personality, but is protective of you once he has a bond with you. He’s not aggressive but he does make himself known to strangers until you let him know they are okay.

His tail is always wagging!! He honestly is such a happy boy! Cane loves bananas and pumpkin! Cane also loves going on car rides! He loves to look out the window and take in all of the sights around him.

Cane needs slow introductions/transitions with new dogs. He is non reactive when passing other dogs on leash. No small dogs.

He has been around kids of all ages- infants up to 8 years old. He does absolutely fantastic with all of them! He looooves giving kisses to the kids. We think he would do well with any age of kids.

He does walk great on a leash. Sometimes a little too great. He does pull, but if you stop to correct him he listens. You do have to do this with him throughout the walk, so it will be a process, but he is extremely food motivated so if you have treats in your pocket his listens better.

He is fully house broken.

Cane has demonstrated some separation anxiety. We have found some medication that helps him the best. He is crated when his foster's leave the house. He has liked to jump up on counters, so it felt best to have him crated when unsupervised.

Cane enjoys walks and being outside, so any opportunity to be doing those things I’m sure he would love.

Cane does seem to have a sensitive stomach. But keeping him on a probiotic powder called Fortiflora has seemed to help him with that. He also does have allergies so he will need to be on an allergy medication probably for life. He takes medications well when you hide them in his food.

Cane's ideal home would be with someone who has the time and energy to give him all the love and attention he seeks for! If someone is in the house with him at all times, he would absolutely love that. But again, if not possible, with his medications he does well with being alone in a crate. A work from home situation would be ideal, but not required due to the separation anxiety. A backyard where he has room to run around he would absolutely love as well!

No cats!
