Candy: Sweet Senior Chihuahua & Rat Terrier Mix Franklin, MA

Happy Spring! I'm Candy. My name suits me because I am so sweet. All the goodness of candy without any of the side effects. I won't rot your teeth or add to your waistline. I have loads of experience being a loving pet. 10 years old and about 15 pounds, I am a great choice for apartment living and would be an ideal companion for a retired person or someone who works from home. I have lived a sheltered life and can be a bit timid in new situations. I can walk nicely on a leash but am subject to freezing up if I encounter something scary (other dogs, cars, strangers). I am working on becoming a more confident lady with my daily walks and encouragement from my foster mom that the world really isn't as scary as I think it is. I love being out in the yard and feel a lot more confident in an enclosed space. I am housetrained but holding it all day can be hard for me. That is why I would do best in a home where someone is around to take me out. I am not crate trained but I have nice house manners and am happiest curled up on a couch near my person or sharing a bed at night. I snore a bit but not loud enough to keep you awake. Having come from a home with other little dogs, I would be happy to share my life with a cool, calm and collected dog. No overly energetic pups please.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
