Candy (Chela)'s Story

Candy is a female shih tzu who was found wandering the streets of Texas severely matted. She has since been shaved and is now safe at Husky House. Candy has some health issues including a heart murmur and arthritis. Candy takes a medication for her heart. She has done well with mellow dogs who respect her space and boundaries. Candy is still settling in but allows pets and handling from volunteers.

Dogs join the MaPaw family for a variety of reasons ~ many are no fault of their own. Dogs are surrendered to us directly by their owners, while others are pulled from area shelters. For many, MaPaw is a place for a second chance at life, while for others MaPaw is their last chance. Each dog is welcomed into a MaPaw foster home with open arms. Once they have settled, our dogs are evaluated thoroughly within the home environment. This evaluation allows us to find the best match for each dog.
