Callie German Shepherd Dog Mix Portland, OR

Are you looking for an affectionate, inquisitive companion? Look no further than
3-year-old Callie! Her favorite thing is to weave between your legs for pets and
scratches and she will follow you around endlessly to stay close. She also loves to
curl up with you on the couch.

If you are working at home, she can entertain herself with a chew toy or naps all
day. She may carry your shoe around but is not destructive. She wants to go
everywhere you go—and loves car rides to get there --but can also be a happy
home-buddy. She is shy at first when first meeting new people but does not last
long.

She is fine around children, though perhaps older ones are preferred due to her
size (about 50 pounds) and exuberance (she tends to nibble when she’s happy,
which we are working on with success). She is also fine with cats and enjoys other
dogs. She loves walks and does pretty well on her leash - pulling sometimes, but
we are working on that with some success. She rarely barks, except for the
occasional protective bark at home.
Being a Texas girl, she’s not fond of the snow, much preferring to curl up by the
fire.
Callie came to us as “light” heartworm positive and is completing her heartworm
treatment. Prospective adopters need to commit to giving her a simple, chewable
heart worm preventative one a month. WASR will provide several months’ worth
of preventative to an adopter.

Callie is fostered in the Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA area. If you are interested in meeting Callie, will out an application from this website. There will be no meet
and greets with Callie without an application. In addition to her adoption fee of $300 there is a transport fee of $175 the rescues cost to bring her to the PNW. The total fee is $475.
