Meet Callie #41041
Callie is an adult female pit bull cattle dog mix. She is a high energy, playful, sweet girl. Callie would love to go to an active home. She would love a yard to play in, long walks, runs, hikes, you name it she would absolutely love it!
After all her energy is spent or when yours is lol, she would love to lay down and get some scratches until its time for bed.
CALLIE IS A TWO-YEAR-OLD SPAYED FEMALE AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG/PIT BULL MIX WEIGHING 42 LBS. CALLIE WAS SURRENDERED TO THE SHELTER BECAUSE HER OWNERS WERE MOVING AND COULDN’T TAKE HER WITH THEM.
THE FIRST THING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CALLIE IS THAT WE ARE WELL AWARE THAT HER KENNEL PRESENTATION LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED. JUMPING, BARKING, SCREECHING, AND GENERALLY MAKING A FOOL OF HERSELF. BUT THIS IS HER WAY OF BEGGING TO BE LET OUT AND TO BE WITH PEOPLE AGAIN. PLEASE READ THE DOG PROFILE LEFT BY HER PREVIOUS OWNER TO LEARN JUST WHAT A GREAT DOG CALLIE WAS FOR THEM AND COULD BE FOR YOU. WE WORRY ABOUT CALLIE BECAUSE SHE DOESN’T HANDLE THE SHELTER ENVIROMENT NEARLY AS WELL AS MOST OTHER DOGS.
CALLIE IS BOTH HOUSE TRAINED AND CRATE TRAINED. SHE WAS LEFT IN ONE ROOM OF THE HOME WHEN BY HERSELF AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES. SHE WAS DESCRIBED AS BEING ACTIVE WITH MEDIUM ENERGY. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH WHAT I FOUND WHEN I HAD HER OUT IN THE EXERCISE YARD. SHE WAS QUICK TO CALM AND IS JUST HAPPY TO SIT WITH YOU AND ENJOY ANY ATTENTION YOU GIVE HER. SHE WOULD COME TO ME WHEN CALLED. SHE DOES A NICE DOWN ON COMMAND AND WILL STAY FOR YOU. SHE TAKES TREATS NICELY FROM YOUR HAND. SHE WALKED WELL ON JUST A SLIP LEASH BUT BOTH YOU AND HER WOULD BENEFIT FROM USING A HARNESS OR GENTLE LEADER.
CALLIE WAS AROUND A LARGE MALE DOG WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A DOG IN YOUR HOME, THERE WILL BE A MEET & GREET AT THE SHELTER. SHE HAS NOT BEEN AROUND CATS. SHE WAS ALSO IN A HOME WITH TWO CHILDREN, AGES 10 & 8 AND WAS PLAYFUL WITH THEM. CALLIE WAS REACTIVE TO ADULTS REMOVING HER FOOD BUT WAS FINE WITH THE CHILDREN DOING THE SAME THING. GO FIGURE. ? SHE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH BEING POSSESSIVE OR GUARDING HER TOYS.
CALLIE IS USED TO A FENCED IN BACKYARD WITH NO ATTEMPTS TO ESCAPE BY CLIMBING OR DIGGING. SHE IS GOOD WITH STRANGERS ALTHOUGH SHE MIGHT BARK AT FIRST.
CALLIE HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR WITH HER MEDICAL RECORDS AT THE MARION ANIMAL HOSPITAL.
PLEASE DON’T JUDGE CALLIE BY WHAT YOU SEE AT HER KENNEL DOOR. PLEASE CHECK OUT HER VIDEO ON PETFINDER TO GET AN IDEA WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT. SHE IS A SWEET YOUNG GIRL THAT DESERVES ANOTHER CHANCE AT WHAT WE HOPE WILL BE HER FOREVER HOME. YOU WON’T BE SORRY YOU DID.
Please fill out an adoption application at www.cedar-rapids.org/animal. Once the application is approved, you will be able to meet with the dog you want to see.
*The spay/neuter surgery is included in the adoption fee of $125. * We always prefer that our animals go to indoor homes.
*OWNING a pet is a life time commitment! Please be ready to make that commitment before you adopt a pet!
*BREED DISCLOSURE: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we cannot guarantee their breed. We list the pets breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, temperament, and personality of the animal-in some cases it's purely a guess. The pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s actually a purebred.
