Meet Buster ADOPTED:)
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.
Here is the Dog Application that you can copy and paste into a browser: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form028182466/index.html
Buster was a stray in Bremer County, Iowa. He did not have a microchip and he did not get claimed. He is now a Waverly Pet Rescue dog and living in a foster home. Buster is now up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and spayed.
Buster is a 2-year-old Chocolate Lab and weighs 70 pounds. Since moving into the foster home with 3 other dogs and 5 cats, he has been great!! He is good with the cats, and other dogs. He does not show signs of food or toy aggression, He loves to play and shares toys well.
The vet doing the stray hold said he was potty trained with no accidents in the kennel. We had only 1 small accident after bringing him home that was next to the door to go outside on day one, and the next morning he marked his food try. Everything has been fine after that first day and this is normal for a new dog in a new home.
A couple of odd and interesting behaviors: The first couple of days he wanted to go outside every 30 minutes to pee but I think it was coming out infrequent bathroom breaks at the vet and he got used to going outside every chance he saw a person to let him out. It took him a few days in our home to realize that there would be people with him more frequently, and he didn't have to go outside every chance he got.
Since then, when he goes outside, he runs to the first patch of grass, pees and comes straight back to the door to come inside. And he doesn't like to be outside longer than that if your inside. He is happy outside if your outside but wants to be inside if you are inside.
When we are away, he is free to roam the house with the other dogs, no accidents, nothing torn up. He is a heavy chewer though, so he will need some tough toys and bones.
Buster is a wonderful dog and a joy to have around! He has not been around children but is a gentle boy so I imagine he would be just fine.
A fenced in yard is required to adopt Buster.
Will someone please adopt Buster and give him a forever home? $450.00 adoption fee.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
