MUST have a physically fenced in yard for him to play in as he is not good on leash and preference given to having a companion dog for him to continue to learn from

Buster, a blue-eyed, Cocker Spaniel male, approx 3 years old and weighs about 25 lbs. He came to us from an Ohio puppy mill when no longer needed for breeding.
Buster is initially a bit timid but learns to trust very quickly when showered with love. He always runs to greet his foster mom when she enters the room. Buster is not fully housebroken yet but has mastered the use of the doggy door to the fenced backyard at his foster home and does most of his pottying outside. Please note that accidents should be expected.
Cocker Spaniels tend to “follow their nose” if something strikes their curiosity. In addition, puppy mill dogs can often be more of a flight risk than non-mill dogs. For these two reasons, Buster should have a fenced yard so he can continue to enjoy romping freely but safely in the sunshine. Of course, we feel no dog should be left outside unattended or for extended periods of time.
Buster is fed inside a crate in his foster home, but otherwise they don’t normally crate him. After spending a few years at the mill inside a crate, it’s not surprising he doesn’t care for it. His foster home has many other dogs, all sorts of sizes and breeds, but mostly seniors and/or special needs who aren’t very interested in playing with Buster. Other than that, they all seem to get along nicely. They don’t have any cats, so we aren’t sure he would do well with feline friends.
He is basically a very quiet dog. When he finally “barked” a few days after arrival, his foster mom said it is a very muffled sound and questions if perhaps the miller tried to “debark” him at some point.
Buster is scheduled to be neutered, have dental done and ears cleaned on October 27th. If he has an application approved under our “foster to adopt” agreement prior to that date, applicant agrees to return the dog to foster on 10/26 so she can take him to and from surgery and process his final adoption paperwork on return.. If you would like to meet this adorable pup an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication
