Buster Boxer & American Staffordshire Terrier Mix Smithfield, NC

Buster is a very good boy! He is 8 years young, and despite a sedentary beginning he has decided that running is fun, (but only for short periods of time). He loves his daily walks more than anything (well, expect food, and his people). Buster’s original owner was an older man who, sadly, had to move into a nursing home due to dementia. During this process, Buster was left in a boarding kennel for 5 long months. Eventually, the family decided that no one wanted to take in this sweet boy, so he is now single and looking for a long-term commitment. Before going to a home, Buster’s owner often forgot that he had already been fed, so Buster is currently on a weight loss program. He is down to approximately 80 pounds, but still has a few more to go. Fortunately, he loves walking and playing. Despite being an only dog for his entire life, Buster has realized that having dogs around if fun (as long as they don’t try to eat his food!) and is learning how to play for the first time. He has been around cats his entire life and doesn’t seem to mind them. He likes children when he meets them on the street but has never lived with kids in the home before. As an older fellow you don’t have to worry about potty accidents or inappropriate chewing. He loves to play but is also happy just settling down by your feet for a nap. This guy is a champ! He is polite and good on a leash. He is not currently being crated, but he is such a good boy that it hasn’t been necessary. Buster is now ready to start a new adventure with his new family. He is so deserving of a family of his own and will make an excellent companion. Do you have room in your home and heart for Buster?
