Hi I’m Buko, I may be little but I’ve got a big personality. I'm very smart & aware of everything that's happening. I feel like it's my job to let my person know about everything. I need my person to be in charge at home so I can relax.
I have a lot of energy, enjoy longs walks and even runs! If you want a walking or running buddy, I’m the guy for you. I'm great in public when I know I can rely on my owner to be in charge. I love toys, and I’ll do anything for a treat. I know how to sit, stay, twirl and give you my paw. I have a lot to say, and will let you know when I’m excited, you have visitors or something’s on the TV that makes me feel anxious.
On a more serious note, I’ve had a bit of rough past. I'm very sweet but I don’t always like to be held or handled, touched on my belly or caught by surprise. I am bothered by the same things that might bother you, like someone many times bigger picking you up unexpectedly.
When stressed by things out of my control i can growl or bite you. I’ll need to be with someone who is patient with me as I get used to my surroundings, is ok with my barking and can help guide me back if I become anxious. I like consistency, routines and sleeping in my crate alone at night. I’m cool with other small pups, however, I’m my best self if I’m not in a house with children or lots of visitors. I’d love a human who could be with me all day, in a calm and loving environment so that I can feel safe in my forever home!
My foster mom is great at understanding me and knows all the right things to do or not do. I am a very well behaved boy for her but I would like a forever home where I am not faced with new foster kids coming and going. That does make me anxious.
** Please note: Due to their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5.
The only way to find out if one of our pups will be a good fit in your home is to fill out the online application on the Lil Paws website. Lil Paws is a very small organization, our volunteer time is reserved for interested persons who have filled out the application to adopt.
We do not have a facility, all dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws, please visit our website at www.lilpaws.org and fill out an adoption application. This is the first step in our adoption process. Our goal is to place our dogs in safe, stable and loving homes in the Austin Metropolitan area. Thanks for looking!
Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws depends on donations to keep the dogs in our program healthy. Many health issues are taken care of before a dog leaves a rescue: spaying, neutering, immunizations, dental care, and in some cases major surgery. Because of the cost of this care, donations are essential to enable us to continue our work. If you would like to show appreciation for what we do and help us continue to do it please go to our website homepage and click the donate button. We thank you in advance for your support.
