Meet Buddy Vaughan
Meet Buddy, a charming 6-year-old, 42 lb retriever mix whose journey from the streets of Antigua to the heart of Texas is nothing short of remarkable. Buddy's adventure began when a kind-hearted Samaritan noticed him limping on the streets of Antigua. Our rescue director, who was residing there at the time, swiftly brought him into our care. Showing his trust and friendly nature, Buddy hopped right into the car, beginning his journey to a better life.
After a visit to the vet, we learned that Buddy had been hit by a car, but miraculously, he suffered no broken bones. A simple splint was all he needed to start his road to recovery. It wasn't long before we all fell in love with his sweet disposition, and when our director moved back to the US, Buddy came along for the ride, quickly becoming a beloved member of our rescue family in Texas.
Buddy has since been treated for heartworm and is now thriving. He's also been diagnosed with a heart condition, but don't worry – with his daily medication, he's as lively and loving as ever.
Buddy is a dog of perfectly balanced energy. He's always ready for a leisurely walk or an adventurous exploration with his humans. And if there's a sprinkler or a garden hose around, watch out! Buddy can't resist the temptation of playing in the water, showcasing his playful and joyful spirit.
As much as Buddy loves his playful moments, he cherishes his downtime too, enjoying lounging inside and soaking up all the attention he can get. His sweet and affectionate nature makes him a delightful companion.
Buddy is both dog and child-friendly, but given his journey and to ensure the best environment for everyone, we recommend a home with children aged 10 and over. This resilient boy is looking for a forever home where he can spend his days basking in the love and care of his humans.
