Meet Buddy Bratley

Hello, My name is Buddy Bratley. I'm an adventurer. I love exploring and unless I'm sleeping, I'm on the move. I love kids and dogs my size. My foster Boston brother is an old man but we still play an exciting game of chase in the backyard. I don't know why he likes to chase a ball, I think he might be a little crazy. I'd rather just lay on a mat or bed with a Nylabone, or better yet on the sofa with my head on your lap.

I've been working really hard on being housebroken but I occasionally pee inside instead of letting anyone know I need to go. If you ask me to go outside I will follow you with glee. Just tell me to "come" and I'll follow you.

I'm not 100% crate trained. You still have to put me in there by hand but afterwards I'm a quiet boy, unless you leave. Then I get a little upset.

I don't remember ever having a collar, harness, leash or taking a walk before coming into rescue. But boy do I like them now!! I'm still learning but my foster brother is showing me what it looks like to heel and walk beside my foster parents. The very first walk scared me but it was just all so new.

I especially love women. If you are a man in the home you will have to be patient with me as your size and deep voice scares me. It took me a little time to start trusting my Foster Daddy but now I let him rub my belly and scratch my ears. He even lets me lick his face. He's growing on me.

I do best with positive reinforcement. I don't like most dog treats but I do like Blue Buffalo Sizzlers. I'm a good eater but I don't beg while you eat. Food doesn't interest me all that much, beyond breakfast and dinner. I prefer a little soft food with kibble as my palette thinks it's too dry by itself.

One of the most significant differences between me and my foster Boston brother is I am as quiet as a church mouse. When my foster brother barks at the doorbell, I once again think he's crazy. While left alone in my kennel I will whine and bark but otherwise the only noise I make is the clinking of my name tag on my collar.

My ideal home would be with a stay at home or retired human parent because I really don't like being alone. I would also love to have some human brothers and sisters to play with.

I can't tell you why but my chest and belly are covered in old scars. Despite that I'm not aggressive at all. I'm a lover not a fighter.

I LOVE to get under the covers in your bed if you let me but I'm also good if I have a blanket to snuggle under.

I don't have eyes that bulge out so I shouldn't have typical issues with them like my other Boston brothers and sisters. I also have a longer snout due to me being mixed, so I don't snort and hardly snore.

My greatest strengths are I enjoy looking at myself in a floor length mirror but with my big floppy ears and adorable eyes, can you blame me? And since I don't have a tail, when I'm happy, I shake my whole booty.

I can't wait to find my perfect forever family!

Buddy Bratley is 3 years old and weighs 19 pounds.

Please keep in mind that some of the dogs posted may not be cleared for adoption quite yet and others may be adopted by applicants who applied prior to you. The Adoption Team works with applicants in the order that they applied when looking to find good matches with the dogs we have available at that time. As a result, if you wait to apply until you see a dog posted that you like, that dog may be adopted by someone who submitted an application before you.

Please do not despair. We have dogs coming into our Rescue all the time regardless of whether you see them posted here or not. Please understand that the process does take some patience since we are all volunteers and life has a tendency to get in the way of our true passion of helping these pups.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website to learn about our adoption process and to fill out an application. http://bostonrescueflorida.org/available-for-adoption/adoption-process/

Because we have Boston Terriers of all ages, we have a sliding scale for adoption fees generally ranging from a donation in any amount for seniors to $600 based on the age and health of the dog.

In general the fees are:

$600 - 9 wks to 23 months

$550 - 2 yrs to 3 yrs

$475 - 4 yrs to 5 yrs

$400 - 6 yrs to 7 yrs

$300 - 8 yrs to 9 yrs

For dogs 10 yrs old and older, we just request a donation.

Our fees cover vetting costs, shelter fees, fuel for transport while in the rescue, copying and printing of contracts and paperwork, our website presence, food, boarding, behavioral training and additional medical care. While the dog you adopt may not require all of these things, many other dogs in our system do. By adopting from Boston Terrier Rescue of Florida, you are not saving just one life, you are helping to save others as well.
