Hi! I’m Buddy. You’ve probably seen me posted before since I’ve been with Take Paws for almost 2 years, making me one of the longest residents of the rescue. Over 2000 dogs have been adopted since I’ve been here and I’ve never been given a chance in all that time. Even though I’m not a fan of other dogs, I’m so happy for all the ones that have come and gone since, but I don’t know why I’ve never been picked. I’m just as deserving and have as much love to give.

I understand my name and my looks aren’t unique, and I’m not the youngest or most handsome. But what I can offer you is all my love, kisses, adorable zoomies, and be a partner for Netflix binges whenever you want! Because I’m at a mature age of ~7, you can leave me at home unattended since I’m potty trained and will happily nap where I lay. The only thing I need to work on is my leash pulling. But please understand I haven’t had a foster in over a year that’s been able to walk me regularly, so I get VERY excited when a volunteer comes by every once in a while to take me out. I have a sponsor to pay for a few sessions to help me with my leash manners with a trainer, but I need a committed adopter to help ensure I continue with my training before I can start.

I know my home is out there and I have so many people rooting for me. I want to live out the rest of my life knowing what it feels like to have a soft bed to sleep on, what companionship is, and humans to love me as much as I’ll love them in return. **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.

2021 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $300
Dogs over 12 months - $200


*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
