Meet Buddy

Buddy is an older gentleman looking for his forever home where people are home or either would like to take him everywhere with them. He's a great constant companion that really likes to be with you at all times! Buddy is definitely a people pleaser and seeks out scratches and cuddles from people. He is an adaptable dog, as long as he is given the time to adapt to situations. He loves to cuddle and will try to snuggle up at any opportunity given (sitting, laying down, etc). Buddy is house trained and is very food motivated. He loves his food and treats! Buddy does exhibit signs of separation anxiety and is taking daily Fluoxetine for it in order to help. He does not appreciate being left alone in the crate at all, nor does he appreciate being alone at home a lot. He wants to be with his people, so an ideal home for him would be someone who is home more often than not and is a strong leader as Buddy can be quite stubborn at times. He does get into a bit of trouble at times with his nose, so it is best to keep those counters clear and those garbage cans out of his reach.

Buddy has lived with multiple dogs at a time and co-exists well with them. He does not like dogs in his face, but he can get along well with dogs who are more mellow and relaxed. He is not a playful dog, but does like his hard chew toys. He mostly enjoys just laying around in the same room as you and cuddling. He also enjoys being outside with you and will bathe in the sun while you're out there with him.

In November 2022, CFP had our vet remove two masses from Buddy. Both returned as cancerous masses - one a spindle cell and the other a hemangiosarcoma. Prognosis for Buddy is to allow him to live out his remaining time, which for other diagnosed dogs with hemangiosarcoma has been averaged at over 900 days. We do not want to limit Buddy's chances of finding his forever home, so we will keep searching for his home and allow him to still be adoptable but with complete transparency on his situation. He is otherwise a healthy old man and deserves a final home.

If you'd like to meet Buddy and see if you are the home for him you can start by submitting an application and should it be a good fit, his foster will reach out to you.

If you are interested in this animal please start by filling out an adoption application at http://www.CFP-NC.org/adoptions and we will get in touch with you.
