Meet Buddy

How will Buddy show you his love?

The answer is easy, his love language is physical touch. His lap dog mentality wanting to be cuddled up at all times, giving you the "wiggly butt" every time you get home, or letting him out of his crate in the morning followed by him trying to jump into your arms to show how much he missed you. If you are looking for a dog that cuddles and wants to be around you at all times, Buddy is a perfect dog for you!

Buddy is a very funny, active, 1 ½ year old sunbathing dog. From being somewhat uncoordinated to sunbathing, walking along lakes/rivers, playing tug of war, going through toys quick, being the first done with his bone, showing off his smile, giving a big man stretch, showing how excited he is to see you by giving you the "wiggly butt" and jumping into your arms he creates a very fun atmosphere. He loves to walk/run and explore! He is very well leash trained and doesn't pull at all (maybe if he sees a squirrel, bird or rabbit), and stays to himself when passing dogs or humans unless they approach him. If he is meeting someone with a dog, he will instantly trust and love them and the dog! He does very well at a dog park, dogs make him feel very comfortable around everyone and where he can just go be himself and explore!

Buddy has had a rough start to life and has been dealing with some anxiety, but has come a long way! Being in public used to be tough for him but now he loves going to parks, softball fields, and being out in nature! He keeps to himself when moving around and ignores other people and dogs unless they come to him! When sitting down at a patio for lunch he is usually pretty good as long as it isn't too small of a space or too crowded. He used to take trazadone for his anxiety everyday but now he has been taking CBD just for when he's going into a stressful situation such as going to a new place, being left alone for an hour or two, or just seeming on edge before bed. He sometimes can be protective of his space to new people. When introducing someone into your home, most of the time he will bark right away as a way to "feel them out" and if they stand their ground and show they aren't scared he will warm up to them right away! It may be best to introduce him to people outside first and then walk in with them so he is more comfortable and so it doesn't seem like they are invading his space and he is more welcoming them.

Buddy would love an active open area in his forever home! He loves to run up and down the stairs playing fetch or playing keep away! He is either wanting to play and has a ton of energy or is a passed out couch potato snoring away. A townhouse would be okay with him but an apartment would not be his favorite as he does get vocal when he hears noises. He is crate trained very well! At night he sleeps in his crate and on rare occasions he is allowed in the bed. Once he gets up, expect a biiig stretch out of the big 58-pound man and maybe a grunt or two to wake himself up. Buddy loves a large bean bag, his foster parents have been using theirs as his safe spot to hangout and sunbath or when they are eating. If you allow him to beg, he will, just have to keep walking him back to his bean bag or recliner and tell him to sit/lay down and he catches on pretty quick! He will be a perfect fit for you if you love to walk, be active, take him to new places to explore, and love a good cuddle.
