Buddy West Highland White Terrier / Westie Mix Rochester, NY

We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally, if fencing is required it must be a physical fence and in place at time of home visit.

REQUIREMENTS: live in the Rochester NY area and have a physically fenced in yard for pup to safely run and play in.
Buddy is a sweet Westie mix, approximately 25 pounds, who loves to run and jump after squirrels and birds in the yard. He is 3 years old, completely house-trained and crate trained. He loves his crate, sleeps in it through the night.
Buddy came to us thru a local shelter as he suffers with some dog reactivity and a shelter environment was not helping him. He is making great progress with his dog reactivity through extensive training but will need an adopter who is willing to continue this work with him. He should be the only dog in a quiet household with no children. He does bark at dogs passing by the house, but can be distracted with treats. He responds very well to praise and encouragement. He didn't like a cat we tested him with but did well ignoring existing dog after a minute of reacting, they were able to walk around the area and paid no attention to each other. He has not displayed any aggression towards people and loves everyone he meets. His adoption fee has been reduced so that adopter can put funds into working with trainer to continue assisting him with his dog reactivity. We don't think it will take a lot of work as he has been so responsive to training and learning to ignore other dogs.

All our dogs have been spayed/neutered; treated for worms; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 mths or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchip; and examined by veterinarian and given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed.
