MEET Buddy -

Adorable Buddy is ¾ dachshund and ¼ surprise, he's 22 months old and cute as can be! He is an 11 lb. red smooth coat doxie. He will do best in a home without kids or cats, but will consider placing him with a small friendly female dog. Buddy loves walks and hikes, he's very smart, mind well and wants to love and please his family. He has extreme separation anxiety, currently on meds. He's just a pup and needs a chance with a doxie saavy owner who stays at home or works from home. This is one very special little boy with personality plus! Buddy is young, handsome, happy and healthy, just waiting for the right forever home/owner to wisk him off his paws!

Buddy will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, Buddy is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, Buddy needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
