Meet Buddy the Bassador!! Buddy is a young 8-10 month old gorgeous, 33 pound, bassett/lab mix boy who got the attention of a volunteer at the shelter because he was howling so loudly. On closer inspection, the reason became clear for his loud cry– he had an advanced bacterial infection in both ears and was in a lot of distress/pain. He was taken to a vet and is currently being treated. Buddy is an absolute lap dog and could not be any sweeter. He behaves well in the house, loves to cuddle, and loves to be around people - he follows his foster mom everywhere. He is totally dog friendly and cat friendly as well. He is very social and friendly with everyone he meets and does very well with children. Buddy is just a sweet all around puppy and would make a wonderful addition to any family. He is doing well with crate training and housetraining. He loves to go for rides in the car and behaves well in the car. Buddy is heartworm negative (on preventive), up to date on vaccines, will be neutered in another week, and microchipped. More pics to come. He will be ready for a forever home in a few weeks. If you are interested in Buddy, his foster mom would love to tell you all about him.

Donation: $450.00 (includes $140.00 transport fee paid directly to USDA approved transport company)

The adoption donation covers all pre-adoption vet costs (general health exam, vaccinations, heartworm testing/treatment when necessary)

Puppies under the age of 4 months will not be spayed/neutered prior to adoption upon advice of our veterinarians; small dog breeds may not be altered prior to six months if size prohibitive. Paw New England has a spay/neuter program in place with partner vets or if adopter chooses veterinarian of their own choice, reimbursement of $60.00 provided to adopter.

PAWS of New England is not shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives.

We are often asked, ""Why would you charge ""so much"" for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" ..... The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support ALL rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in discounted vet care, and many people will want to adopt it; an older dog with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt him/her. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others.

Most of our dogs have a sad story to tell, and some have suffered through years of neglect or abuse. We hope that you too are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption donations. Without these funds, our rescue efforts would not be possible.

ALL KNOWN INFORMATION IS LISTED HERE. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history.
