Meet Buddie

Dear Mrs. Santa Paws --- My name is Buddie and I am 6 month old 13 pound Italian Greyhound. I’m told I am miniature and more slender than a Greyhound, but I know that I am a Greyhound’s equal in grace and elegance.
Believe it or not but my ancestors were bred for centuries to be doting companions and jesters. I am a high-stepping charmer who refuses to be ignored. To tell you the truth I would much rather be in your lap or bed than on the floor.” But I’ll be honest I am true sighthound and will bolt after quick-moving prey at the drop of a cat. I do have a short-coat and very little fat so I might need extra care in cold weather.

If you're an art lover, you may have seen some of my family in centuries-old portraits, immortalized with their noble owners by famous artists. My friends at the shelter tell me I am a slender, elegant dog that is agile and athletic. I’ve been told that my breed can reach top speeds of 25 miles per hour, so if I were to gets loose I won’t be easy to catch. Although I may be small, I have lots of energy and really appreciates plenty of opportunities to exercise. I bet I’d make a good jogging partner.

I can be reserved or shy with strangers and despite my mild nature, I have a surprisingly deep, big-dog bark. Maybe I could be a good watchdog — although he's too small to back up his barks and provide any actual protection.
I like to think I am intelligent and easy to train, but you'll need to make it fun for me to overcome my “what's in it for me?" attitude. I’ll be honest with you Mrs. Paws what I’m not doing well with is housetraining. I’m told that like many small breeds, I am being difficult to housetrain! Aside from the occasional cleanup, life with me is both restful and zestful. I loves snuggling with my people for a while, then flying around the house and jumping on furniture and tabletops. I LOVE high places, and you'll can often find me perched on the backs of chairs, on windowsills, or any other high spot that I can reach.

I’m one of those small dogs with a big personality. Please tell Santa that I am affectionate, possessive, and loving, charming. All I really want for Christmas is a forever family that will give me the attention, exercise, and training I need — not to mention tons of love — and I’ll make an elegant and loveable addition to their family!

I am current on my shots, microchipped and have been neutered. My adoption fee is $250
