Meet Buck

Buck came to STAF from a Kentucky pound where he was on “the list” :( Buck and his brother, Simm, were abandoned by their family and left to fend for themselves. We are so thankful to have both these beautiful boys safe here at STAF!

Buck is a big beautiful 2 year old boy and he weighs in at 60 lbs. He has a calmer demeanor, is friendly and sweet with everyone he meets and can be a big goofball when plays. Like every other dog at STAF Buck prefers not to be bugged by other dogs while eating. Who would?

Buck has a gorgeous coat of brindle and snow white and we think he could be a mix of Plott hound and maybe Collie. The Collie might explain his expressive ears which will melt your heart! This boy loves attention, and will wag his tail happily when you approach. Buck loves to play and has done well meeting new dogs at STAF. Buck is a fantastic walker, impressing some volunteers enough to dub him the best walker at STAF! Here’s some great feedback on Buck from a volunteer: “What a big, goofy, sweetheart! Buck was so excited to go on a walk, hopping around and giving kisses mid-bounce. He is excellent on leash, and walked and jogged without pulling. He was friendly with all the people and dogs we met. Buck is medium energy and happy. He is really interested in being a part of whatever is going on. He is also affectionate. I stopped at one point on our hike to tie my shoe and Buck came over and showered me with kisses while I tried to tie my shoe. This guy is just a nice, easy, fun boy to be around

So we made it our goal is to find Buck a family that will put his great walking skills to good use :) One very lucky home will be blessed to call big-goofy Buck a member of their family!

Buck’s estimated birth date is November 2016

Buck will need: An active home to give him plenty of exercise (and walks:)) and positive based basic obedience training.
Buck will love: A fenced back yard to play in and another dog or weekly trips to doggie daycare.

Please see our homepage for visiting hours and adoption details.

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.

Visit our website www.staf.org to download our application.

We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.

You must be 21 years or older to adopt a dog from STAF

We require a physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog's behavior and exercise needs.

Invisible fences - Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training--we cannot adopt to homes with invisible fences unless otherwise noted in a dog's online profile.

We do request vet and personal references.

At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 75 miles of Cincinnati.

Can’t adopt but want to help? You can make a difference! Our shelter is run entirely on volunteer-power and generous donations from animal-lovers like you. 100% of your contribution goes directly to caring for our 500+ furry residents. Thank you for your support.
