Bubbles Chihuahua & Terrier Mix Decorah, IA

Bubbles came to Heart 8 weeks ago as an owner surrender/emergency case. She was in labor and unable to deliver. Reporting 15 hours of active labor had passed and it was unknown if any puppies would even be delivered alive. Desperately seeking help to save the life of this dog, Heart agreed to take her and she was surrendered immediately to the Vet clinic and emergency staff awaiting her arrival for an emergency c-section. Ultrasound showed only one big puppy and they saw a heartbeat!
Puppy was delivered safely and mom and pup were picked up by the Heart foster home around 9:30pm.
Bubbles was a fantastic mom, however imagine the trauma she had experienced! Now in a strange home with her first pup ever (being less than 1 year old herself). She was very scared and unable to be handled for the first 2 weeks. With lots of patience and time, she decided her foster mom was safe and began making trips outside. She has slowly but steadily became more happy, playful and affectionate. The fear is gone from her eyes.
The puppy was named Guppy and he was a whopping 6.7 ozs at birth. Pretty big for a dog that’s less than 10 lbs! He is meeting or beating all of his milestones!
