Meet Bubba

Handsome Bubba is a really good-natured, fun-loving and playful fella. He has a good bit of energy and a rough and tumble play-style. I have to watch that he doesn’t play too rough with the littles - but it is all play. He’s a happy-go-lucky typical lab that isn’t big on personal space.

Bubba is around 18 months old and weighs about 60 pounds. He is house trained. Bubba hasn’t had leash training but he did well on vet visits.

Bubba wasn’t socialized for his first year, so I have always done very slow introductions to other dogs. There has never been an issue. He is friendly with puppies, girl dogs, boy dogs. He is also friendly with adults and older children (those under 12 years make him nervous). He has not been introduced to cats.

He loves playing tug with his dog friends, and he loves to play fetch with a tennis ball, although we are still working on returning it!

Bubba is very treat motivated. He’s smart and eager to please. He is a beautiful boy with amber eyes and will make someone a wonderful pet.

Bubba has made real progress on not jumping on people but, I expect he will need additional training in this area. I always make sure he has a good bone to chew on. But, you should still be mindful not to leave things like shoes laying around.

Bubba’s house manners are really pretty good for a young dog who grew up with his siblings in a miserable dirt yard with no shelter behind an abandoned mobile home. He was skin and bones and very scared of people when he came to me. He holds no grudges though! As he gained weight and was shown love and care his playful personality began to shine.

Because of his upbringing, Bubba is always very eager to eat and has been fed separate from his brother. There are no aggression issues, but he will definitely try to eat all the food he can find. So it is best to feed him separate from others.

Bubba would make a wonderful family pet in an active home. I recommend a home with older children due to his puppy energy and not being aware of his size.

Bubba has come such a long way. I am so happy for him to be getting a family of his own.
