Hello There! I am Brutus, a 5 year old Dogo Argentino. The kind of dog I am, was bred in Argentina to hunt boars, so I will need lots of exercise. I am an athlete through and through. Everyone here at the shelter will tell you that I am the smartest guy around, so mental stimulation is also a must. As you can see I am a big guy, but don't let that turn you away, once you get to know me, I am the friendliest pupper.
I already have my basic manners down and am even potty trained, so you could say I am ready to move into a home. I will have to go to a home with a yard, so that I have enough room to run around and play. If you rent a home, please be sure to check with your landlord first if you're allowed to have a guy as big as me in your house.
Playing is one of my favorite past times, especially with toys. My kennel staff wants you to know that I cannot play with tennis balls though since I have eaten them before. I just can't help it, they look too good to resist.
I play fairly well with other dogs, but I would prefer to go to a home where I am the only furry being. Young human siblings are also not a good match with me. I just want all your attention for myself!
During my time in the shelter I was being treated for heartworm. I kicked heartworms butt but I will need my future family to continue to monitor me because I don't want to get sick again!

How our adoption process works:
1. You MUST come into the shelter to meet a dog you are interested in (and meet a few others, while you’re at it!)

Our hours are 10-5 Mon, Wed, Thu Fri / 11-5 Saturday / 12-5 Sunday

We suggest you call ahead to be sure the dog(s) do not have pending applications

2. You will fill out your adoption application, including references, after finding a dog you’d like to adopt

3. The application review and reference checks will take up to 3-5 business days; you will not be able to bring a dog home same-day

We only take 2 applications per dog, before they are unavailable. This is why we suggest you call ahead to check the status of the pup!



We do not adopt out-of-state.
