Bruiser Chihuahua & Whippet Mix Brentwood, CA

They say it takes a village and they're right. When another rescue reached out for help with animals that came out of a homeless encampment we were happy to help.

Meet Bruiser. He's lived with his brother, unhoused his entire life. When his brother was brutally mauled by a much larger dog his person knew he couldn't provide the help that was needed and relinquished them both to rescue. His brother is getting much needed medical care with the other rescue and they asked us to take this guy on.

Bruiser is a young dog, under 1 year and unfixed. That will be remedied very shortly. He doesn't appear to ever have been on a leash or had much manners taught at all. He is a happy go lucky little guy however and smart enough to pick things up quickly. Pictures don't give an accurate representation of his size, he looks HUGE in the pictures and he is not. Well, his ears are. He's currently under 20'sh pounds and may top out at 25lbs. His body is compact but his legs are very very long. There has to be some Whippet or Italian Greyhound in his lineage somewhere. A doggy DNA test would be super fun with this little guy!

Bruiser will need to go to an experienced dog home. Someone who is committed and able to take him to training classes. He is not potty trained and needs someone who is patient and willing to work with him. Since he is used to being with someone 24/7 having someone who is home would make his adjustment easier.

Bruiser's life has been completely turned upside down and we are committed to making sure he lands in a home that is absolutely perfect for him.
