Brooke Terrier & Ibizan Hound Mix Eustis, FL

Brooke is a 2-year-old Terrier/Ibizan hound mix weighing approximately 30 pounds. We get lots of very heartbreaking rescues, but she is one of the worst. She came from a high kill shelter with her puppies and she was so petrified that we couldn’t even go near her for months because she would cower, shake and hide. We thought she was feral but soon found out that she was used for target practice by some horrible people. She had over 100 buck shots in her, including her face. We got a lot of the buckshot out of her but she has so much more that we’re not able to remove. She was a stray who had her puppies on someone’s porch and would go to feed them and then run for her life. Even though she was petrified and scared, she still made sure her puppies ate. It took weeks to catch her. When we got her, she was skin and bones but her puppies were healthy! We’ve had her for almost a year and now she is finally ready for adoption. She is still very scared and wary of people until she knows she will not be hurt, but she has become friendly, happy and playful. But you can still see the terror in her eyes when she first meets you (it is totally heartbreaking). She loves to play with the other dogs. She will go out to the yard to potty but she is totally petrified of a leash so she needs someone with a fenced-in yard. She is a beautiful girl with an auburn coat, long legs and beautiful eyes. She should be in a home without children. Her adoption donation is $200 which includes her spay, vaccinations, microchip. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventative. This precious girl has endured so much (I am crying as I write this) and she definitely needs to be loved, spoiled and pampered.
