Meet BRISK

A favorite at the Kern County Shelter, for the herding dog savvy, he is a winner! Loyal, stick with you, good off leash, responsive, clever, moderately active, relatively calm, watchful, ready.....

Here are some great notes/observations from his current foster family:

He's the sweetest, most joyful dog I've ever met! He loves to cuddle and is very affectionate. He's super loyal and always wants to be wherever I am. I call him Velcro dog!

He's got a ton of energy and needs about 2 hours of activity (hikes, walks, playing with toys) a day. He loves all people and mostly all dogs. He's very friendly and social. He always wants to say hello and has wonderful manners when we're out in public. He's very athletic and would do best with a very active family, ideally in the country. As a working dog, he will live his best life on a farm where he has lots of room to roam or where he has jobs to do. He's definitely not a city dog!

He knows basic commands like "sit and "heel. We're working on others. He still has a lot of puppy energy and can get extra excited when we play. He sometimes jumps up or nips when he's really into playing. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend him for a family with small children.

He can jump very high - straight up from a standing position, and has a high prey drive. He needs a tall, fenced yard to keep him safe.

He loves fetch and tug-of-war (and he's very strong!). I could see him really enjoying and excelling at agility games.

He doesn't love being alone, and although I've only left him for an hour or two at most, he's done some major exploring (walking on my kitchen table and counters!) while I'm out. He needs some training there!

He's a smart, happy, mild mannered and loving dog. He is so eager to be loved and gives so much love in return. He will be a wonderful companion for the right family.
