Meet Brayan
Meet Brayan, your soul dog with a lot of love to give…
Male I Labrador Mix I 88lbs I 4-5 yrs I neutered, UTD on shots
Good with all people and calm dogs that he is slowly introduced to.
Rescued from Mexico, currently looking for a home in Vancouver, BC.
Background:
Brayan was rescued from a highway in Mexico, where he was found running, disoriented, and scared. A kind commuter picked him up in their car, which he happily jumped into, knowing he was in good hands. Brayan was brought to the DogGo project in Puebla, Mexico where he happily lived for two years before being flown to Canada in June of 2024. He went into a foster-to-adopt (FTA) home in Ontario, and they relocated to Vancouver, BC. Brayan ended up not fitting into their lifestyle, and he is now looking for his forever home.
Personality:
Brayan is a gentle giant with an easygoing nature. He absolutely loves people and affection. Whether he’s soaking up quiet time at home with his foster family or enjoying the company of guests, he’s always happy to be part of the fun. He’s incredibly sweet and will eagerly offer his paw to hold or roll over for belly rubs from new friends. Brayan has low to medium energy, and a couple of longer walks usually tire him out for the whole day. He isn’t much of a runner or player but will occasionally play with toys or run around with his foster sister when the time strikes. Brayan is a dream to have at home. He’s completely trustworthy when left alone uncrated, he has never been destructive or had any kind of accident in the house. He’s happy to snooze on the couch and patiently wait for his foster family to return.
Brayan also loves the outdoors and gets excited for his daily walks!
Ideal Home:
Brayan would love a home where someone is around often, but he’s also perfectly content being left alone for stretches. He could do well as a solo dog or with a calm, respectful canine companion. A yard would be ideal for his outdoor time, or a home in a quieter neighborhood with less foot traffic.
He’s looking for experienced dog guardians who are confident, patient, and committed to continuing the work his foster has started. In the right hands, Brayan will continue to blossom into the loyal, loving dog he was always meant to be!
Training / Activity:
Brayan is smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. He walks well on a prong collar, is e-collar and muzzle trained, and knows all his basics: sit, stay, leave it, heel, and come. His recall is excellent, especially when treats are involved.
Though previously labeled “reactive,” Brayan’s foster team and trainer agree that he’s simply a dog who can become overstimulated or frustrated when too many triggers are present at once. In the last two months, he has made huge progress—he now regularly disengages from triggers on his own and looks to his handler for direction. His impulse control and confidence are improving every day.
He would do best with someone who has experience reading dog body language and who can provide the structure and calm energy he needs to feel secure. Continued training and a predictable routine will help him continue building his confidence and trust in the world around him.
Brayan has a strong foundation and a huge capacity to learn. He’s eager to connect and takes pride in doing well for the people he loves.
Summary
Brayan is a beautiful soul with a lot of love to give to everyone he meets. His temperament makes it easy for him to love back. With the right environment and ongoing training, he will easily settle into being your new furry family member and best friend forever!
