Brandy's Story
Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico's streets. The Meximutt Project, a BAPBR initiative, tackles this crisis at the source—through comprehensive spay/neuter programs and by connecting rescued dogs with loving Oregon families.

Since 2019: 400+ dogs adopted, 3,200+ spayed/neutered.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? Yes, but she prefers to be alone with humans

• GOOD WITH CATS? Yes

• GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food.

• HOUSEBROKEN? No, not 100% yet -- Please keep in mind that our dogs are rescued off the streets, they are NOT always 100% housebroken and will need time and patience to adjust. Even in a foster home in Mexico, the dogs are often living in an environment with no carpet or grass or living outside. In the house, it is usually tile flooring and outside it is dirt/concrete. Most of our dogs transition well and only need about 1-2 weeks to get on a potty schedule/routine.

• LOCATION: Currently in Guadalajara foster care. 2-4 weeks to arrange flight once adoption is approved

**Meet BRANDY**

We found Brandy and another dog, Xander, abandoned near the shores of Lake Chapala a few weeks ago. While Xander arrived traumatized and fearful, something remarkable set Brandy apart from the moment she stepped into her foster home—her heart had never hardened.

This beautiful girl came with no walls to tear down, no trust to rebuild. She simply arrived ready to love and be loved by humans, despite probably having lived for a while on the streets. "She didn't have any trauma at all," her foster dad marvels. "She arrived very affectionate, gets along with all the animals, all the people. She lets you hug her--in fact, she practically begs for it."

**The Professional Lap Warmer**

While other dogs chase balls or explore every corner of the yard, Brandy has mastered a different art entirely: the fine craft of being the perfect companion. She's not interested in games or adventures—she's interested in you.

"What she's looking for is to be hugged all the time," her foster dad explains with obvious affection. "She likes to be the only one, to be alone with you, with you hugging her."

The moment you sit down, Brandy has already read the situation and made her move. She'll climb onto your lap and begin her subtle campaign for belly rubs and face scratches. This isn't neediness—this is a dog who knows exactly what she likes and knows exactly how to get it.

**Selective Social Skills**

Brandy's not antisocial, but she's incredibly selective about her energy expenditure. Other dogs exist in her world, but they're simply background noise to the main event: quality time with her humans.

"With other dogs, as long as they leave her alone and don't attack her, she shows no aggression to them," her foster dad observes. "But if they start bothering her or trying to challenge her, then she defends herself. She's not a timid, fearful dog, but she's not problematic either."

**The Reluctant Walker**

Ask Brandy about her exercise preferences and she'll give you a look that clearly says, "Why walk when we could cuddle?" This plump, content girl has strong opinions about unnecessary physical exertion.

"She doesn't really like to walk much," her foster dad laughs. "When I take her, I have to pull her and persuade her to come along. She prefers to be in her little bed on the patio or in the living room."

Twice now, she's attempted to negotiate her way out of walks, but eventually she accepts that resistance is futile and walks along, understanding that the faster she gets it over with, the faster she'll get back to where the good snuggles happen.

**Your Personal Love Expert**

Brandy isn't looking for an active family who wants a hiking companion or a playmate for other dogs. She's looking for someone who understands that the highest form of love is presence—quiet, consistent, devoted presence.

"She's getting a bit chubby," her foster dad says affectionately. "She loves being talked to, getting her face petted, getting her belly scratched."

This girl has refined tastes: she wants the good spot on the couch, the warmest lap, and all your attention. She's wonderful with children and gentle with other animals.

**Ready for Her Throne**

Brandy represents something increasingly rare in our busy world—a companion who insists on slowing down, sitting still, and simply being together. She's not asking for adventures or challenges. She's offering something more precious: unwavering devotion and the gentle art of contentment.

Are you ready to be Brandy's chosen person?

***************************************

READY TO APPLY?
