Meet Brandy! Brandy is affectionate and eager to please. When she is happy, she smiles and her tail goes in a circle! Something unique about Brandy is her special fondness for waterfowl-themed toys. She was originally trained as a hunting dog, and she gets very excited when you say “duck” or bird”. She has fun exploring outside, and loves to look for and retrieve things, so fetch is a great game for her.

Once she has gone on a nice walk and enjoyed some play time with her bumper duck and bird-on-a-rope toys, Brandy will settle down for pets and snuggles, and give you kisses. A typical food-motivated Lab, she is also a proper lady, and takes treats very gently. She likes to chew on antlers and bones filled with peanut butter. And she loves to be brushed; perhaps that explains why her coat is always so soft and shiny! Though she takes treats gently she does not like to be bothered by neither person or other dog. She will sit and wait for her food, but once he bowl is put down you need to give her space to eat her food in secure environment where she does not have to share.

Brandy wants to be as close to you as possible – she might even sit on your feet. She’ll offer her paw when she is craving some attention. But even though she loves being with her people, she can also be safely left alone for long periods of time with no issues. You can count on her to be a good girl when you leave her home while you do errands, or spend the day at work.

Overall, Brandy is well-trained and obedient. She comes when called, and knows commands such as “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “leave it,” and “drop it.” She is crate trained to go to her “room.” She also knows directional hand commands; if you point to the right, that is where she will go! She will let you know when she wants to go out and will wait at the door before you release her “free.” When it is bedtime, she curls up to sleep for the night. And she is a good watchdog, too, alerting you when someone is nearby.

Brandy She needs a quiet environment in a home/ neighborhood that is not too busy. She would thrive in a rural setting. Loyal and reliable, Brandy develops strong bonds. She will be a wonderful companion for the right family. She enjoys car rides and will lie down the entire time – hopefully on the way to her forever home, with you.
