Meet Bowie (courtesy post)

Bowie is a young mixed breed neutered male. He is seeking an active owner that will provide him the time he will need to settle in to his new home. His new home will need to take things slowly at first to ensure he gets to know his new humans at his pace. Applicants should have experience with dogs that may be nervous with new people or in new situations. Bowie's new home should be committed to not bringing him into situations before he is ready and be willing to set him up for success by not having large groups of people visit as he is settling in. His ideal home would be an active owner(s) that enjoy walking or hiking in places without too much stimuli so that Bowie can learn that traveling to new settings means opportunities for exercise and relaxing sniff walks. His new home should be seeking a dog with moderate to high energy and stimulation needs.

Bowie would do best in a home without small children or other pets. He may be able to make some appropriate dog pals, but should not live with other animals in his home. Likewise, Bowie is not a candidate for dog parks. Bowie seems to be ok with being in a crate which is a great place for him to be safe and comfortable at times as he decompresses. He is housetrained and up to date on vaccinations.

Bowie's caretakers state:
Bowie is very loving and loves couch snuggles. He loves ear and butt scratches and belly pats. Bowie loves to play tug of war. He also loves to play fetch except for the part where he has to return the ball or stick, so you have to make sure you have more balls and sticks on deck because he’ll play for a while as long as you keep providing the fetch object and he doesn’t have to return it. Bowie loves to give kisses even when you don’t want them. He loves to spend time on the deck laying in the sun. He is really loyal and loves to follow his person (me; and once he knows you, you too!) around. Bowie is my best welcome committee, he is also soooo excited to see me when I get home. Bowie is really smart. Bowie has not had much training, but he picked up simple commands really quickly. When outdoors Bowie is more welcoming to strangers. Inside a house he can be timid depending on the person and sometimes it takes him a while to warm up.

We may request that interested applicants meet Bowie and perhaps go for a walk or hike with him a few times before adopting him. Taking the time to Bowie needs to feel comfortable with his new humans will set everyone up for success!
