7/28/2015: Bowie is a very cute 5 year old Pit Bull mix. He has one blue eye and some cute ears!

Bowie is a sweet-natured and pretty mellow guy. He spends most days in our volunteer room hanging out with volunteers, kids and another canine buddy. He loves people and is also good with other dogs. If you have a dog, we’d ask you to make an appointment to bring your dog in to meet Bowie to make sure they like each other.

Bowie is medium-large and weighs 45-50 lbs. The poor guy was emaciated when he first came to us as a stray, weighing only 30 lbs at the time. He also smelled strongly of urine, had overgrown toenails and small sores on his legs, feet and chest. It appeared that he’d been left confined without food in a crate or some place where he had to lay in his own urine. Now, Bowie is very healthy and looks great. He has also been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms.

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
