Bougie Girl checking it! I'm a 2 year old adventuring cuddle bug. My foster mom calls me a little spitfire of a girl. I am always interested in anything new and literally like to stop and smell the flowers. I have a lot of energy, especially if I've been crated for any period of time, so I do need space and attention for playing! Sometimes I'm a little over stimulated which makes me a little more wild. But with consistent training and expectations from my humans I do just fine and can be redirected to more appropriate ways to spend my energy. I do have some separation anxiety, especially when there is a change to my normal routine and schedule. But over time as I build confidence in my surroundings I do just fine. I travel well, and usually just sleep in cars, and am excited to see where we are going next.
I do not like baths, my foster mom isn’t sure exactly where this came from, and she’s working to show me that the water isn’t scary. I tolerate dry shampoo baths now, and my foster mom has not tried introducing me to any other bodies of water yet. We’re working on trying to build my confidence in this, but you can’t fault a girl for not wanting to wreck her hair-do, can you?
Don’t let my name deceive you, I may be a Bougie girl, but I love walking and being outdoors. Foster mom says I’m fantastic on a leash, and besides the occasional squirrel chase, I’m unbothered by just about anything else. Honestly I just want to be with my human. If I don’t get some kind of exercise daily whether it be walking or playing I can struggle with over-excitement and occasionally forgetting my manners. But indoor fetch has become my new obsession. It’s taken me a while to figure this game out, but I am a fetch master.
Commands I have mastered you ask? “Sit”, “wait” and “leave it” are my specialties. We are working on “down” (lay down), “stay”, and “off” (getting off furniture or not jumping). I have a really hard time focusing when I haven’t had a chance to play, and I’m not always then most food motivated, but I do really want to please you. Training consistency is the most important thing, as I learn very quickly what you want from me. I’m house broken and will indicate by going to the door that I need a bathroom break.
But once all that energy has been burned, all I want is to curl up in your lap or next to you and sleep. I love to snuggle, it might actually be my favorite activity ever. I am content if you have people things to do chewing on a toy and being in the same space as you. Because of my high energy, and at times jumpiness, I should be in a home with adults only or older children only. Cats, I’m curious about and just want to be their friend. They are unsure of me, but my foster mom is pretty sure I’d be best friends with them, especially if they’ll snuggle with me. I do good with other dogs, but should have slow and appropriate introductions.
Please fill out an application to meet me. I am looking really hard for my happily ever after!
