RETIREMENT HOME NEEDED!!!

!Boots and Ziggy's adoption fee has been sponsored!

Have a heart for precious senior dogs? Want to offer your home and heart to those that deserve to have their last years be some of the best of their lives?

ZigZag (or Ziggy as he is fondly called) and his “sister” Boots are a bonded pair that came to us at the Humane Society of West Alabama when their owner became physically unable to care for them. Ziggy is 13-years-young, while Boots is a spry 9-years. And they are definitely young at heart and certainly have more energy than you might expect (although it can be short-lived)!

Ziggy and Boots are friendly, sweet, affectionate, treat-craving, toy-loving, life-long buddies that would bless any home fortunate enough to take them in.

The summer heat will be brutal for them, so we would love to get them into a home TOGETHER as soon as possible. As fosters or for adoption!

Read on to learn more about our precious pair!

Good ole Zig Zag is a 13 year old male Labrador Retriever mix that is having to move to a new home in his final years due to his owners sudden move to assisted living and selling his home. His owner was involved in animal rescue in the Tuscaloosa area so we really want to find a good home for this super dog.
Zig is a good size dog weighing 53 pounds with a thick cream coat. Zig is very sweet, calm and laid back - great qualities to have in a dog. Mature dogs are so nice and easy to handle. Zig is used to living inside and as well as having a fenced in yard to roam around in. He is house trained and used to sleeping in a crate (with the door opened.) He enjoys the company of another dog like his buddy, Boots, so they are a bonded pair looking to retire together. We do not think he would do well in an apartment setting. Zig is used to a calm environment with an older person yet he has pretty good energy for a dog his age. He should be fine with children yet maybe not ones younger than 8 that might not understand the needs of an older dog.

Zig did have a good part of his tail removed due to a tumor and the discoloration on his leg is mostly from licking and is being treated. Zig is neutered and heartworm negative.

Sweet Boots is a 9 year old female German Shepherd/Labrador mix that had been living a nice, content life until the sudden health issues of her owner has caused her to need a new home. Boots is a good size dog weighing 55 pounds with a nice thick smooth black and white coat. Her owner had been involved with animal rescue in the Tuscaloosa area so we want to find a good home for this super dog. Boots is used to living inside with another dog and spending time outside in a fenced in yard. She is bonded with her lifelong friend ZigZag. Boots is house trained and is comfortable in a crate - with the door kept opened! She has nice energy for her age and enjoys the company of another dog. We do not believe an apartment setting would work for Boots. She is used to a rather quiet environment with an older person. She does well with children, yet due to her size, may be better with children 6 and older so she doesn't inadvertently knock them over. Boots is spayed and is heartworm negative.

Both dogs will need some time to adjust to this big change in their life, but luckily dogs are very adaptable. They will be loyal and love their new owner just like they did the last one.

Our adoption fee is $125, and this pairs fee has been sponsored.
