Meet Boomer

3ish year old neutered male rough coated mix.
Intake date 10 February 2022
.
Boomer has traveled back into rescue as his adoptive family felt they were unable to provide him with needed training and exercise.
.
Originally placed in 2020, Boomer became reactive when seeing other dogs on daily walks, which led to seclusion in his own yard, which in turn, increased his reactivity. We have worked with Boomer and his former adoptive family and within a single session had him interacting appropriately with other stable dogs. This is not a dog aggressive dog, this is a dog who desperately wants other dogs in his life to provide him with stability and self confidence. Unfortunately, this was not possible in his previous adoptive home.
.
Boomer is looking for a stable home with confident, gregarious, playful medium to large sized dogs. Boomer needs a reasonable amount of daily exercise to help keep him mentally and physically fit. Hiking, long walks, and running are all things Boomer would enjoy. Boomers new home should have some experience with reactive dogs, and be willing and able to help keep Boomer in the right headspace as he progresses with his social skills.
.
Boomer has not lived with children and will not be offered to a home where children reside.

Information from Boomer's initial intake:
Boomer came to us from a shelter partner in the south, where he had been taken in with a group of dogs with unknown history. Boomer has lived a lot of his life outside, though is nicely crate trained, and has been clean inside our kennel building.
Boomer is a sweet guy who initially appears bolder and more confident than he is, and may do best in a home with another dog or two, and humans that will enjoy training and helping Boomer to learn the skills he needs in order to become the best dog he can be.
Boomer is great with adult humans, and has been good with dogs after initial introduction (this is where his lack of confidence shows). We have no history for Boomer with cats or children.
Boomer currently weighs 38lbs, though could stand to gain a couple of pounds.
