Meet Booger Roo

Booger Roo's owner needs to find him a new home. Here is what her daughter said:
My mother has dementia and will be placed in assisted living very soon and we really have no one to take over care for the dog. But a little about him....he is a 12 yo chihuahua, recently checked his vet records and he is due for a rabies vaccination which I will take care of along with testing for heartworms before he is re homed and unfortunately he is not neutered. We had some dental work completed about 2 years ago and asked vet if we should go ahead and have him neutered while under anesthesia and he told us not unless there was an issue with growths, cysts, etc. No known medical conditions. He is your typical chihuahua - very skiddish at first but warms up quickly, has always been around other dogs and cats and has no issues at all with either, would do best in a home with no children. He is used to my mother being at home almost 24/7 and a pretty quiet environment. Some of his quirks are - he is not crate or leashed trained but does well with someone taking him out with no leash. He has never attempted to run away, listens well and will usually walk right near you with no issues. He has recently started having some separation anxiety when he is left alone, whether it be for 30 mins or hours but has recently started urinating on an area rug at the doorway. We have tried numerous things to break him from this newly picked up habit (he has been house broken since he was a puppy) but nothing has worked. We also initial thought it may be something medical related so we scheduled vet visit to check urine, etc and all came back fine. This is something that started occurring when my mother retired and was home with him all day and only occurs now if she leaves for any amount of time. No accidents in house if someone is home and he will alert you when he needs to go out. He really is a sweet little old man and just has some quirkiness.
I’m still hoping he can find a home with someone who is semi retired, retired or even work from home. If I can’t seem to find an adopter that is home the majority of the time I would love to see him placed in a home with other small dogs to keep him company while someone is away. I also think he would do best in a home with a female as well. He has always been very timid and extremely nervous around males. He is not aggressive by any means but seems to trust females more.
We are looking to re home as soon as possible as we are placing my mother in a facility very soon and I am trying to keep him from being too traumatized. I really do want to find an awesome person to adopt/foster him
