Meet Bonz

Bonz (pronounced Bones) is a hound mix .... possibly beagle and foxhound. He is larger than a beagle, but he will not get as big as a foxhound, but we are pretty certain he's 100% hound dog! At this writing, Bonz is 8 months old and weighs 33 pounds. He's still growing and should top out around 40 pounds when full grown.

The story began when this pup was born under a house along with his seven siblings. The homeowner saved all of the babies and the mom and to keep them safe, he built a pen for them. Unfortunately, these babies were not well socialized when they were infants and they are a bit skittish. :( We have split up the litter and are working diligently with them so they will be more relaxed around humans. The ones who have been adopted are doing fantastic in their new homes and keep in mind, hounds are known to be great with kids!

This handsome boy has made some great progress since entering foster care. He is pretty good on a leash and is perfect in a crate and will crate right up when you say "cookie". :) He is good with women, but a little more fearful of men. He is okay with kids and is around a 7 year old a lot of the time. Bonz is playful and enjoys his toys, other dogs and he really enjoys treats! Once settled in, Bonz is pretty laid back when indoors. Actually he's pretty laid back outdoors as well, as we find him a lot of times, lounging in the sun in the back yard. He and the other dogs in his foster home play when outdoors, but inside, he's pretty calm and enjoys being petted once he's settled. Bonz would benefit from another dog in the home to sort of show him the ropes of what a normal dog is supposed to do. He LOVES other dogs and is submissive to them. Bonz also knows how to use a doggie door and rides in a car with no problem.

All vetting has been done and he's ready to go.

This pup is truly a sweetheart and very loving and he has beautiful brown eyes that will melt your heart ... he wants to receive love and give love but you will have to give him a little extra time to settle in. He's been in our program 9 weeks ... he's anxious to find his forever family.
