Bonkers's Story
PROFILE AND PHOTOS CURRENT AS OF NOVEMBER 4, 2025
(Halloween costume photos courtesy: T.D McLellan (@tdmclellan)

Born August 20, 2025, Bonkers is an absolute dream of a puppy and so gorgeous with his crinkly little nose.

At his 1st vet appointment on October 10, he weighed in at 3.8 KG/8.3 pounds.
At his vaccine booster appointment, November 14th, he weighed in at 7.4 kg/16 pounds. He hasnāt grown much in height but he is obviously āstockierā.

I have no idea what his adult weight will be. Presumably in the 60-70 pound range but his Mama is 45 pounds/Dad is 80 pounds.

Bonkers (and his brother Chonkers) was born in Sudbury with his parents being owned dogs. We have agreed to spay and neuter the parents for the owners. Since it was an oops litter they surrendered the puppies, though sadly, they did sell some locally (really hoping they went to good homes).

Bonkers is sweet and outgoing. A very easy puppy. He loves to give kisses and be cuddled.

All that loveliness stated, it's important to note that puppies are A LOT of work!

Bonkers is still very young, so would do great in a home with a well mannered adult dog that he can learn from, but he could be a solo dog if it was an adoption match. As a young puppy, and a puppy that will grow into an adult power breed, he will benefit from professional training beginning with puppy classes so he can grow up to be a great canine citizen in your community.

Again, puppies are so darn cute, but puppies are a lot of work. Bonkers is still working on potty training. He still gets up to go potty around 3:00 am but as he ages (3-4 months) that overnight will no longer be needed. Puppies will also go through their teething stages and have a need to chew, chew, chew. Their personalities will also continue to be carved out as they age, so proper guidance and training is so important the 1st year of a puppies life. Puppies also need someone home "most often" as they are just too young to be left behind for full time work schedules (even if you pop home for lunch).

Bonkers will have 2 further vaccine appointments at my veterinarian, along with more deworming and parasite prevention, all at my cost; November & December. He will be neutered, also at my cost at my veterinarian in the GTA on a non-negotiable neuter contract in March 2026. He will be over 6 months old.

Bonkers is a great puppy that will do well with kids, cats, dogs and anything an adopter would need to introduce him too, as he's still so young. He has met other fully vaccinated dogs as well as children and was calm and confident and just wanted to play.

Bonkers personality will continue to change month after month as he gets older and I'll keep the photos and description updated as best as possible. Hopefully his perfect adopter comes along soon and there won't be a need for another profile update!

FROM THE FOSTER:

Bonkers is such a smart and loving puppy!

Heās a big cuddler who loves being close and will happily nap right on you.

Bonkers lets me know when he needs to go outside and can sleep through the night in his crate without needing a potty break. Heās still a young puppy, so there may be the occasional accident ā but most days he does great.

Our typical day starts around 6:30 a.m. with a trip outside, followed by breakfast, playtime, and lots of cuddles before I start work. Bonkers loves to bring his toys and play right beside you.

We go for short walks throughout the day ā including a quick lunchtime outing to stretch his legs and say hi to neighbours. We donāt get very far yet, but his favourite part is when people stop to pet him.

During the day, he does well crated for 1ā2 hours if I need to go out, and he rarely barks. He does have those sharp puppy teeth right now, so youāll want to keep an eye on your slippers ā but heās easily redirected to one of his toys.

Heās a quick learner, already mastering going outside for potty breaks and even doing stairs! In the evening, we go for another short walk, then play and cuddle until bedtime around 10:30 p.m., when he happily settles into his crate in my room.

He has lots of backyard potty breaks throughout the day.

Bonkers also does well in the car. Heās a sweet, affectionate little guy who just wants to be close ā such a cutie!

------------------------------------

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

------------------------------------
