Meet Bolt

Bolt originally came to us on January 26, 2021 as an owner surrender. He is almost 3 years old. He was being surrendered (or so we were told) because he wasn't getting along with the other male dog in the home. Well it didn't take us long to figure out there was more to the story than we were told. He was showing very aggressive tendencies and none of our staff could even get close to him. The staff was worried about even opening the door to feed him. We had to lock him outside to put his food into his kennel and then open the door back for him to get inside. We were told he is a German Shepherd/Hound mix.

We reached out to the person who surrendered him for help in making him realize we weren't the bad guy and got told "it is your problem". We then reached out to some family members for assistance and couldn't get any help as they were fearful of the dog. In the early days of him being here we questioned a lot if he could ever be adoptable.

We just gave him time and space - time to realize that we weren't going to hurt him and time for him to sette down and space to make sure he didn't feel threatened. It is readily apparently this dog hasn't been treated very nicely in the past as he is terrified if any voices are raised - he goes into a very defensive posture. With patience we have now gotten to the point that the staff can handle him and he is excited to see us. He can go out into the yards to run and play, he can get treats without trying to attack us, we can now open the door and feed him with him standing right beside us. TIME, LOVE AND PATIENCE - the three things he apparently never had.

Bolt will not be one of those dogs you meet and adopt more than likely. He may take multiple visits until he feels comfortable. One of our staff members will work with you and him to make sure he understands you aren't a threat. He will not be adopted into a home with small children. He needs to be an only dog and made to feel comfortable. Once that occurs we believe he will be an amazing companion. A single man or woman would be the best fit for him - a couple at the most.

If you are interested in meeting him please submit an application and we can arrange a quiet time for you to come and spend time with him. A fenced in yard will probably be needed.

His adoption fee is $100.00. If interested in meeting him please go to our website at and submit an application.
