Bodie Poodle & Bichon Frise Mix Houston, TX

Bodie is a three year old, white, male Poodle/Bichon mix who weighs 13 pounds. He was found as a stray and we are dedicated to finding him an excellent forever home. His coat was matted when we got him so we had to shave him but once his coat grows back out, he'll be one handsome dog. As you can see from his photos, he's almost too pretty to be a boy. We don't know what his life before coming to us was like but he is a bit shy for the first few minutes when meeting a new person. When I took his photos, I noticed he would avoid making eye contact. I think this may be because he desperately wants to trust but wants to make sure you mean him no harm first. I found Bodie to be just as sweet as he can be and he seems to have a gentle soul. Despite a touch of shyness, he came to me easily from his kennel, was easy to carry and walked fine on the leash. He will pull just a bit on the leash if he's been cooped up in his kennel for a while but after a few minutes he does just fine. When you first take him to one of our play yards he will be independent and want to explore the area. After he's had an opportunity to do that, he is relaxed and easy going and much more willing to pay attention to humans. He loves to be scratched all over. He also loves toys. In fact he'll roll over on his back so you can give him a belly rub all the while keeping his toy in his mouth. The more time you invest in getting to know Bodie and letting him get to know you, the more affectionate he gets. I was sitting on a quilt in the play yard and he liked to lay right beside me with a toy in his mouth while I massaged him and told him what a good boy he was. During our time together, I found him to be trusting, quiet, gentle and friendly while showing an appropriate amount of playfulness for a dog his age. I haven't had an opportunity to see him interact with children yet, but I suspect Bodie would make a good family pet. He might also make a good walking/jogging buddy when weather permits. Bodie is hoping for a forever home where he will be cherished and treated like a member of the family. I guarantee you he will meet you at the door with a smile on his face and a wagging tail. All the dogs are healthy, spayed/neutered, current on shots, parasite / heart worm disease tested (and treated if positive). All dogs are microchipped, groomed and trained to use a doggie door.
