LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL HOME: 1.5 years old / 54 lbs. Mostly Mutts adoption facility is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm. Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. I’m looking for a special home with extremely patient folks that like helping their dog blossom. It will take months as I have a long way to go to be a confident dog and honestly, I’ll likely never be a completely confident. The key to my heart and possibly my confidence is another very playful and sweet dog or two that will play with me, so it shouldn’t be very small dog. I must have at least one dog like this in my new home to learn from. I have a great play bow too to get the playing going! So, let’s meet and make sure that your current dog will love and play with me! I’ve also done well with the kitty cats I’ve met so far. The other thing I’ll need in my new home is a fenced yard to play with my new dog friend in as that’s where I let my hair down and my tail goes up! Peanut butter in a Kong is also a heart warmer for me. I’m doing well with my potty manners on a good schedule and I’ve learned ‘sit’ and ‘down’ so far. Since I’m initially not trusting of people, if they just ignore me, and let me smell them, that helps me feel better. I may growl whenever something spooks me or I’m in a heightened state of alertness. I’ve either growled and withdrawn or growled and just waited it out until I felt better. My foster family can give you lots of tips on what’s working with me as they have made great progress and I’m showing a lot of improvement. I’m drawn to women a bit more than men; however, I’ve had some fears of women too especially if they speak in a high pitched or excited voice. Please approach me with a calm spirit, quiet voice and nice lower energy. I also appreciate it when you pet my back first and not my head. With my foster family, I enjoy snuggling and sitting on the sofa – I’ve even tried to steal their popcorn on movie night when they weren’t watching. LOL. Household noises startle me too and unfortunately, I’m still afraid of a lot of things, so we’re trying me on a lower dose of Prozac to see if it will help with my fears and anxieties. I have a protective nature too as I’ll alert you to both an evil doer or a leaf blowing. LOL. Tell me to “leave it” if I react to a new noise, or if something startles me as it’s helping me settle more quickly. When I’m out on my walks, I have more confidence, walking nicely with you and greeting other walkers, but inside I just need more patience and reassurance that you’ll love and be kind to me. I ride well in the car, it just took a few trips to fun places before I’d get in by myself. I’m behaved in my crate, and I’ve become more willing to accept it as my safe place, but I may need a bit of coaxing first. I’m sweet, though timid, but I’m looking forward to a long and loving friendship with my new family! Energy level: 4-6, higher when playing with a dog! A home with much older calm kids would be best as I haven’t been around many kids yet and due to my growling when unsure. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered and my adoption fee is $275.00.
