Beau is a seasoned gentleman at about 6 or 7 years old (we think). His life really only started once he was rescued in August of 2020 though. He was found with two friends (or brothers) and all three boys were severely neglected and starved to skin and bones. Suffering with a painful eye condition and essentially left to die on the end of a chain, he was also hiding internal troubles as well. About three days after rescue, his foster mom noticed he had trouble breathing. This led MARR to seek immediate diagnostic testing that led to a discovery of cardiomiopathy. He was in heart failure and it had been suggested by medical staff to end his suffering soon as they gave him approximately two weeks to live. His foster mom wanted to show him all people aren't bad for however long she could. Eight months later...his recovery is nothing short of miraculous. He is doing so well that his foster mom believes it's time to find him his forever family. His heart condition is managed with daily medication (he takes very willingly) and he is in really high spirits. Initially dubbed a hospice foster, it's starting to look like Beau could have some good time still ahead of him and we want to make it his best ever.
Beau does well with other dogs with proper introduction. He would love nothing more than to be your one and only but if there are furry companions he may do best with a companion whose a little more mature and calm natured like him. He enjoys daily walks although can get excitable at the sight of a kitty or squirrel, otherwise he walks well. He is a textbook rottweiler in the sense that he must see you at all times. He is slightly fearful of men but not aggressive. Beau would love someone to be home with him all day. He is kennel trained, potty trained, leash trained, and rides well in vehicles. He will sit very well to get brushed and have his nails trimmed and gets right in the tub for a bath. As far as well behaved goes, it doesn't get much better than Beau!
His foster mom would like his adopter to live within no more than two hours of the Wichita area.
Q: How long is he expected to live?
A: However long he is meant to. Defying the odds already, he could last many more months or years.
Q: Does Beau have any physical limitations?
A: While his foster mom does try to keep his environment calm and quiet, he has no limitations per the vet. A daily walk will suffice for his exercise.
Q: How much does his medication cost?
A: He is on two medications taken twice daily which cost approximately $90 per month.
Q: What happened to his friend-brothers?
A: With MARRs help, they are both happy and healthy in their new forever homes!
