Bo came into Fulton as a stray in September 2018. She had some lacerations and her legs were hurt and she was not overly friendly to the staff at Animal Control. She would not let anyone handle her and it hindered her chances of rescue or adoption. Thankfully, over time she calmed down a bit and slowly warmed up. One of our fosters visited Bo at Fulton and they fell in love with her. Even though they are full, they realized no one was stepping up for little Bo so they stepped up themselves. Bo got her freedom ride on November 1st 2018.
Bo is enjoying the foster family life. She gets along with all the dogs in her foster home (both male and female). She will play with a dog, but is also completely fine with just hanging out. Confident doggie-friends are her favorite. Not only is she good with other dogs, this sweet lady gets along well with the resident cats! Bo is very good on a leash and would love for someone to take her on a walk once a day. She is a medium-energy gal and would also love a fenced yard to zoom around in or maybe play a casual game of fetch. Afterwards, she'll be ready for some sunbathing and a nap. She is housebroken and crate-trained. She does have some separation anxiety as she would rather be with her people than be left alone, but her foster family is working with her on this and has made good progress. Her forever family will need to be willing to continue working with her on this. Fireworks and thunderstorms don't seem to bother her a bit. Baths and nail trims are also a breeze for this incredible lady. She knows Sit, Down, and Crate. Bo will also politely wait for you to release her when it's time to eat. She is a champion snorer even if she just fell asleep 2 minutes prior. Bo is an excellent cuddler and is incredibly gentle when taking treats.
Bo will need an experienced owner that either knows what they are doing or is willing to work with our trainer to get her acclimated and learn how to let her adjust to new people going forward. Humans have been very unkind to her in the past so she takes a minute to warm up to new people. Her foster family is working hard to reinforce good human interactions. When new people visit, they have to follow 'no touch, no talk' rule until Bo is comfortable. Once she knows you're safe, she is your shadow and forever cuddle-buddy. She just seems to lack some confidence and can be unsure. It takes her a little longer to warm up to men, but she sure does love her foster-dad. Bo also loves her 11 year old human nephew who is very calm and loves animals. We are not sure if she would be good with all kids, but she REALLY loves this one so maybe kids are safe to her.
Bo is super sweet and well mannered. She deserves a life full of comfort and love. She just has some baggage and needs a forever family that is understanding, willing to let her warm up slowly, and that will keep her safe.
Our adoption fee is $300. All dogs are current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, on heartworm prevention, and are fed top of the line grain-free food.www.savingpitbulls.org
