Your boy Bluey here! I am estimated to be between 5-8 years old and am a hunky Pit Bull mix of 85 pounds, with the biggest smile and a gorgeous dark grey (or blue) coat. I am from a shelter in Philly where it was getting kind of crowded. The good folks here transferred me and a few others to find homes. I am strong, with a bulldozer of a chest, so my new family will need someone equally as strong to walk me. Despite my strength, I take treats so gently. I know sit and will even give you my paw. I will need a home with kids over 12 years old. I am fairly uncomfortable with handling and can be mouthy when excited. I am quite anxious, but I just want to find a home! I love to play with toys and bring them back to be thrown again. I did not do well meeting a cat, but I did okay meeting a dog here. A well-chosen dog friend might work! I can be forward, but with time I do settle. I am a lot of fun, loving and hoping to bring that to my new home! Could that be with you?

Medical: During his time here at HSHA, Bluey was found to have signs of skin allergies (also known as atopic dermatitis). A dog with atopy is usually itchy during specific seasons of the year, although some atopic dogs may have non-seasonal signs. Affected dogs chew, lick and scratch all over, especially on the feet and face. Saliva will often stain light colored hairs, resulting in orange or reddish brown hair. The dog may also scratch and rub around the eyes and ears, the axillae (armpits), the groin or the inside of the thighs. Atopy is a lifelong condition that will require frequent monitoring and recurrent treatment by your regular veterinarian. This condition may require lifelong medications and result in skin infection ‘flare ups’ that require immediate attention by your veterinarian.
