Meet Blue

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION.

STRICT ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS FOR BLUE:

1. Needs a 6 foot fence
2. Needs a buddy his size to play with and learn from.
3. Children should be 10 y/o or older.

5 month old Lab/Husky mix, about 32 pounds.

Blue is a very sweet, loyal boy who loves to play and be cuddled. He would do best in a home with another dog(s) his size, who will wrestle with him and romp around a spacious FENCED back yard. Blue will play friendly with dogs of any size but he really needs dogs his size. He is friendly with cats and generally leaves them alone - he may be curious and want to sniff them to say hello! He is also friendly with children. He may do better with children that are a bit older (10+) as he will occasionally get excited and jump up (as puppies do!).

Blue is absolutely still a puppy who is learning the basics. He is still teething so he may want to grab your hand but it's never aggressive and he'll quickly stop with a quick "no". His teething isn't destructive by any means (at this point)! He loves stuffed toys and hasn't ripped any, so far. He’s working on crate and potty training but has already made quite a bit of progress. He’ll need a patient family that will continue to work with him on it. As of now, he has a bit of separation anxiety when left alone. He is not destructive, he just cries, VERY loudly. Because of this behavior, we MUST place him in a home without close neighbors. This will get better with a concerted effort to train him to be alone and self soothe. However, this will take some time, so let's not upset the neighbors right away! Also, with his Northern breed heritage, he will need a fenced no shorter than 6 feet. He is very food motivated and will sit, lay, and come over when called for a treat. He is the sweetest boy and would make the absolute best addition to a family who will give him the love, training, and attention he so greatly deserves.

Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older, and always before being placed in their new homes. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
