What a handsome hound our Blue is – right? We rescued Blue from the Little Rock Animal Village. Likely hit by a car, Blue had a pretty bad bum leg and we decided our vet could likely but his broken leg back together masterfully, which he did. He has healed very nicely.
His temperament is profoundly typical of his breed – fun loving, goofy, playful, would love to accompany his human on a trail hike.He will do well with school aged children who are responsible. After some action, he’s extremely comfortable just crashing and hanging out on the sofa for several hours.
“ Blue is a 2 year old Bluetick Coonhound who has recently made a full recovery from a leg injury and is ready to get back into action. Handsome and majestic, he is a graduate of the Arkansas Paws in Prison program and knows basic commands and obedience, and is very well house-trained. Blue is a natural athlete, and he expects plenty of exercise each day; or better yet, lots of space to explore in his free time. After a short period of getting acquainted, Blue opens up and his energetic personality starts to show. He has a beautiful bay that you’ll no doubt hear now and again when the wind brings an interesting scent past his powerful nose, and he likes to play with toys or chase a ball when he is feeling especially enthusiastic. He loves to walk on the leash, and only pulls a little when he spots another dog, or better yet a rogue squirrel. It is best that he stay on a leash or in an enclosed area until he is very familiar with his surrounding area; he has been known to partake in an occasional unapproved leave of absence when his curiosity has gotten the best of him. Blue handles himself well around most other dogs, but he can become a bit defensive when another dog comes near his food.”

Blue is up-to-date on all vaccinations, HW negative, neutered and has a microchip too – all ready for his new forever home. Blue graduated the Paws in Prison program where dogs receive obedience training The dogs in this program are trained under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. For that reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive their training journal. This journal documents everything from entering the facility, daily training progress, and interactions with trainers.
